Artist Statement

My process begins with finding rather than searching. Attention to the small becomes the impulse. The form of a flower bud or the peeling paint on weathered metal draws me in. These encounters set something in motion that continues on the canvas.

Painting is how I relate to my surroundings. I respond to what I see through gesture or interruption. I am not interested in what is pleasing. I am interested in what feels immediate. Perception comes first. Reflection follows later.

We live in a constant stream of images. I look for clarity and a space that allows intuitive decisions. The work develops between chance and control. Spontaneous marks remain or are reduced. Lines enter when the painting asks for structure.

I work with acrylic, oil pastel, and graphite on raw linen, cotton or paper. Traces of the process remain visible.

The painting offers an open space where meaning remains unsettled.
It is like a sound that lingers and calls for a position.

Background

I studied design at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hanover. There I built a strong foundation in drawing and material exploration. Painting has been part of my practice since the beginning.

For more than a decade I worked as a tattoo artist. I became known for a gestural and painterly approach. In Berlin I founded a contemporary tattoo studio that connected fine art and tattoo culture. Throughout those years I continued to paint and developed independent projects and mural works.

Since 2025 I have dedicated myself fully to painting. My main studio is located at Gerichtshöfe in Berlin-Wedding. I also work regularly in rural Lower Saxony, where a second workspace has grown over time. Moving between the city and the countryside shapes how I see and how I work.
