Statement

I paint intuitively, guided by the tension between chance and response. Experimentation, materiality and process are central to my practice. Through repeated intuitive decisions, I move closer to the subconscious, hidden and instinctive.

I am interested in the archaic and the childlike as forms of expression beyond language. My visual language is influenced by Abstract Expressionism, childlike mark making and calligraphic elements.

The relationship between micro- and macrocosm is a recurring theme within my work. Forms emerge, dissolve and reorganize, reflecting natural processes of transformation, renewal and impermanence. At times, the imagery exists between microscopic structures and cosmic landscapes.

I work mainly with watercolor, ink, oil pastel and graphite on raw linen, cotton or handmade paper. Chance plays an essential role in the process. Fluid layers, stains and spontaneous textures create situations that I respond to intuitively. Lines appear rarely and only when the painting asks for them.

After many years of tattooing and working on skin, I became increasingly drawn to open surfaces, raw textiles and handmade paper. Empty space, unfinished areas and visible traces of the process remain part of the final image. I am less interested in fixed meaning than in creating space for perception and association.

Painting has become a counterbalance to an increasingly overstimulated world. It allows me to access a quieter and more instinctive form of awareness before interpretation takes over.

Background

I studied design at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hanover. There I built a strong foundation in drawing and material exploration. Painting has been part of my practice since the beginning.

For more than a decade I worked as a tattoo artist. I became known for a gestural and painterly approach. In Berlin I founded a contemporary tattoo studio that connected fine art and tattoo culture. Throughout those years I continued to paint and developed independent projects and mural works.

Since 2025 I have dedicated myself fully to painting. My main studio is located at Gerichtshöfe in Berlin-Wedding. I also work regularly in rural Lower Saxony, where a second workspace has grown over time. Moving between the city and the countryside shapes how I see and how I work.

Studio visits are possible by appointment.
